Renovating Schools, Rebuilding Hopes: The Sirumugai Lions Clubs’ Impact

Recognizing this issue, the Panchayat Union Elementary School at Nal Road, Sirumugai Pudur, sought assistance from the Sirumugai Lions International. With a rich 28-year history of service, the Lions International took up the task of renovating the 75-year-old school buildings, ensuring a conducive learning space that adheres to post-Covid protocols. The impact of the club's efforts is set to bring joy and renewed hope to the 126 students, the majority of whom come from Handloom weaver's families.

 

Modernizing Campus for a Post-Covid Era:

The Sirumugai Lions Club approached the task of renovating the school buildings with careful consideration for the students' safety and well-being. The new classrooms were designed to facilitate physical distancing, with the addition of wall partitions and outdoor teaching areas. By modernizing the campus, the Lions Club has created an environment that supports effective learning and instils a sense of joy among the students. The renovations, including basic repairs and a fresh coat of paint, have given a new lease of life to the ageing buildings, promising a brighter future for the students and staff alike.

 

Providing Clean Drinking Water:

In addition to the school renovations, the Sirumugai Lions Club extended their support to the Government High School at Iluppapalayam, a remote area lacking access to clean drinking water. The club donated three water tanks to the school, addressing a basic necessity that was previously overlooked. The timely response from Lions International to the school's request has been met with immense gratitude from the headmistress, Smt. Jeya Kalaimathi, who recognized the impact this contribution will have on the students' health and well-being.
