V.P. Nandakumar, from Thrissur, India was elected to serve as
international director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s
102nd International Convention, held in Milan, Italy, July 5 through
July 9, 2019.
Director Nandakumar is CEO and managing director of Manappuram
Finance Limited. Starting in 1986 with a singlebranch family business,
Director Nandakumar has created one of India’s leading non-banking
financial companies with over 4,300 branches.
He became a Lion in 1981 after joining the Triprayar Lions Club.
Director Nandakumar has held a number of offices within the
association including multiple district council chairperson, board
appointee, and member of the LCIF Corporate, Foundation &
Government Gifts Committee.
In recognition of his service, Director Nandakumar has received an
International President’s Leadership Award, an International
President’s Award and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the
highest honor the association bestows upon its members. Director
Nandakumar is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and a Second
Century Ambassador.
In addition to his Lions Activities, Director Nandakumar is a managing
committee member of leading Indian trade and industry associations
such as ASSOCHAM, FICCI and FIDC. He is also past chairperson of
the Kerala State Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry. In
2017, Director Nandakumar, was among 16 finalists nominated for the
EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award, India.
