R Murugan

Ratnaswamy Murugan, from Kerala, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 97th International Convention held in Toronto, Canada, July 4 through 8, 2014. Director Murugan is a chartered engineer engaged in construction, health care, hospitality and education. A member of the Trivandrum Host Lions Club since 1986, he has held many offices within the association, including district governor, zone and region chairperson, CSFII sector coordinator and multiple district GMT coordinator. In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including the 100% District Governor Award, Membership Advancement Key Award, two International Leadership Awards and three International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. In addition to his Lions activities, Director Murugan is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Institution of Engineers, Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce, Trivandrum Management Association, Regional Cancer Association and the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI). Director Murugan and his wife, Prema, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have three children, also Lions, and three grandchildren.
