Pravin Chhajed, of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India was elected to serve a two year term as
director of Lions Clubs International at the Associations’ 84th International Convention,
held in USA, July 2001.
Past Director Chhajed is company director in Textiles, having Star Export House. A
member of the Ahmedabad Karnavati Lions Club since 1984, he started his career as a
Leo in 1979, Past Director Chhajed has held many offices within the Association,
including Club President, District Cabinet Secretary, Region Chairman, Vice District
Governor, District Governor, Council Chairman and Board Appointee.
He has served on the important committee like Long Range Planning, membership,
finance and head quarter operations, and service activity of Lions Clubs International
Board of Directors.
In addition, he has also served on the International Committee of Campaign 100 and
Multiple Coordinator for Centennial Celebrations.
He served as a Chairperson of 2005 District Governors – elect Seminar held in Hong
Kong, 2006 Academy Awards of Lionism, and the Chairman of Election Committee at the
2006 International Convention in Boston, USA. He has also served as an associate at
District Governor- Elect Seminar for the 2013 International Convention in Hamburg,
Germany.
PID Pravin Chhajed served as Chairman of Two ISAAME FORUMS in 2004 and 2015
both held at Ahmedabad, with 4150 delegates from 43 countries attending the 2015
forum, remains the highest till date.
At the National Level, he has served as a Chairman of Lions Coordination Committee of
India (LCCI) and its secretary for 3 years. He was also the Founding Member of Lions
India Magazine Board of Directors. Currently, he is the trustee of Lions Quest in India
Foundation.
His home club Lions Club of Ahmedabad Karnavati is having a membership of 2000+,
which is the largest club of Lions Club International. As a project chairman, he has been
an institution builder for the clubs’ various service projects like Lions Karnavati
Shantaben Vishnubhai Patel Eye Hospital, Lalji Mehrotra Lions School (LML), Lions
Blood Bank, and Lions Kidney Dialysis Center.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Chhajed has received
numerous awards including the 100% Club President Award, a 564 Member Key Award,
a District Governor Excellence Award, two Leadership Medals, 26 International
President’s Awards, the New Horizon Award in Drug Awareness and Diabetes
Education, an innovative ideas of Membership Retention Award and the Ambassador of
Good Will Award, the highest honour the association bestows upon its members. He is
also a life member and Melvin Jones Fellow.
In additional to his Lions activities, Past Director Chhajed is active in various professional
and community organizations. He is a life member of the Ahmedabad Management
Association, the Gujarat Research & Medical Institute and the Indian Red Cross Society.
He also served as an invitee to the Executive Committee of the Gujarat Chamber of
Commerce and Industry; President of the Gujarat Rajya Anuvrat Samiti (a character
building movement) and a president of the Tera Panth Yuvak Parishad.
Past Director Pravin Chhajed, have a son Prerak, daughter Preksha, and three
grandchildren Samyan, Shonaya, Myra.
